Chained

It's dark, so very dark, the feeling of despair has come. Hope has left, with all its light, that left only darkness. Loneliness is all one feels now, knowing that the hope of freedom is now gone. To know that you are alone, that no one would even give you a second thought. The only fear to have left is the fear that you would lose yourself, to lose all that you are and have become. To become mindless and soul-less, to be nothing more then an empty shell. To have no free will, only able to do the will of others. That is the greatest fear one could have left.

Cries could be heard through out this place, it was cold and dark. Sounds of rattling chains echo the place, along with the snap of a whip cracking against a poor souls back. This place was not a place of hope, it was were one was sent to be forgotten and die. Two guards walk through the tunnels of this place, each one holding an arm to a body they dragged. The poor soul they dragged had just endured two hundred and fifty lashes. His back was shredded apart, black like goo spurted out of the wounds, the males head limp with the rest of his body, his white hair dangling in his face. His wrist had shackles on them that underneath them left the skin raw and burned, even his neck was in the same condition do to the collar. His collar and shackles were made special, they had red veins on the blackish metal, the veins were Aether. They tossed the limp body into a cell, the male didn't move, just laying on the cold stone floor.

The two guards just laughed, one spoke "Ha! Not so tough now are you?" the other chimed "How pathetic, to think you were once high up and now you rot here with the rest of your kind." the body just didn't move. "Pff come on, he's broken like the rest now." the other guard walked with him "Hard to believe that guy was the infamous Voltaire."

For a while Voltaire had been trying to protect the others who were enslaved here, fighting guards and taking most of the punishment. He always figured someone would come for them, he thought that through out his life he made some impression on someone. He was more upset that Nine, the one person whom he saw as a friend, even more then that, a brother, just left him to die. After all that he tried to do, after all that he had done for Altainia and only to be forgotten and left for dead.

So he tried to escaped, even had help with the other Chimera's, but he didn't think Roland would be a guard there. Roland was able to stop him and the others, for punishment they slaughtered hundreds of Chimera's in front of Voltaire. Then for punishment for the rest of the Chimera's, they beat and whipped Voltaire, to show that even a creature like him was able to be beaten.  Voltaire just laid in the cells, when he watched so many Chimera's slaughtered, even the ones who did not try to escape were killed. He realized that even if he escaped, he would never ever see his family ever again, that if he manage to escape, this time he really would bring danger home. That thought alone frightened him, never seeing his love ever again, or his two children. He knew this time, it was it, he also thought that they had found him, the beings that made him. He figured there was no fighting it anymore. He was so tired and after trying to rebound from when he thought he lost Nine, he realized Gabriel was right.

He realized that he was and always had been alone, that no one cared they just pretended. The only people who ever were real with him was Ophelia and Sephitia, and one he had lost, the other he could never see ever again, not if he wanted her and his children safe.It didn't matter anymore, this prison was going to kill him, whether it was physical or spirit, he had come to terms that he was going to die now.
